The Beauty and Magic of Winter Trees
February 14, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST
FreeA lively lunchtime talk about the amazing life and beauty of DC area trees in winter.
Winter reveals the forms and details of trees that often go unnoticed during nature’s busy seasons. There is magic in the air, even if we’ve had no snow!
Join Capital Nature and naturalists Melanie Choukas-Bradley and Alonso Abugattas as we explore the subtle beauty of trees in winter. We’ll look at trees you may find in your neighborhood or local parks, highlighting their winter garb and their special stories.
We’ll draw on plant science and folklore from Chesapeake indigenous and European traditions. And as winter inches toward spring, our naturalists will show us how close observation will reveal the signs of budding life.
